Beyond the Veil

Walk straight up that mountain
past the sweltering heat of summer

The valley fades below
The snowy peaks draw nearer
Lupine everywhere, light in the air

The only sounds are the bells of free
roaming cows

Even here, linen dries on the line
With lunch laid out
on the worn wooden table
