Palomino

It rained late last night and the mid-morning September air was heavy and aromatic. The ground was covered in a mix of damp dried grasses, sage brush, and cactus.

The horse you had lent me was a young and calmly rebellious palomino. He shifted his weight slowly onto a hoof he had placed on my right boot. Was he testing me?
